The Musician Daughter Susanne Dunlap Books
This is set in 18th century Vienna and revolves around the world of Haydn and court musicians. Theresa's family is shocked when their violinist father is brought home dead. His death brings the family's fortunes in peril. While Theresa's mother plans to use a wealthy uncle to find a husband for Theresa, she has other plans and is able to make some money by working for Haydn, helping him with writing his compositions as his eyesight fails. She also begins to search for information about her father's death. A mysterious medal, his missing violin, and a gypsy encampment lead the 15 year old on several harrowing adventures, and include political turmoil, spies, and an oily, lascivious uncle in order for her to find out the truth. Glimmers of romance also appear along the way as this girl must rapidly become a young woman. A lovely young adult tale full of history and adventure, this was a pleasant book to read.Tags : Amazon.com: The Musician's Daughter (9781599903323): Susanne Dunlap: Books,Susanne Dunlap,The Musician's Daughter,Bloomsbury USA Childrens,1599903326,Historical - Europe,Mysteries & Detective Stories,Austria - History - 1740-1789,Families - Austria,Families;Austria;Juvenile fiction.,Family - Austria,Family life - Austria,Haydn, Joseph,Murder,Murder;Juvenile fiction.,Musicians,Musicians;Juvenile fiction.,Mystery and detective stories,Romanies,Vienna (Austria) - History - 18th century,101701 Bloomsbury US Childrens HC,Austria,CentralEastern Europe,Children's Teenage fiction & true stories,Children: Young Adult (Gr. 7-9),Families,Fiction-Mystery & Detective,General,Historical General,Historical Fiction (Young Adult),JUVENILE,JUVENILE FICTION General,Juvenile Fiction,Juvenile Grades 7-9 Ages 12-14,Mysteries (Young Adult),TEEN'S FICTION HISTORICAL,TEEN'S FICTION MYSTERY & DETECTIVE,United States,Vienna (Austria) - History - 18th century,YOUNG ADULT FICTION Historical Europe,YOUNG ADULT FICTION Mysteries & Detective Stories,Young Adult Fiction,General,Historical General,JUVENILE FICTION General,YOUNG ADULT FICTION Historical Europe,YOUNG ADULT FICTION Mysteries & Detective Stories,Young Adult Fiction,Austria,Families,Juvenile fiction,Historical Fiction (Young Adult),Mysteries (Young Adult),Children: Young Adult (Gr. 7-9),Children's Teenage fiction & true stories
The Musician Daughter Susanne Dunlap Books Reviews
I chose five stars because the whole book is full of adventure and mystery's. I think you did an amazing job!
IF you want a good book to read , you need to get this one. I Just wish the romance would have been more developed.
I really enjoyed this book, but I'm also a major fan of historical fiction...the time period is awesome, and overall, Dunlap just has a catchy way of writing...It's very unique and there needs to be more historical fiction books out there.
My son read it for school and said he liked it.
It was slow going at the start but it did pick up eventually. I did enjoy reading it. I was disappointed on how it ended, I guess I wanted more.
This is a very suspenseful novel that intertwines good, evil, and the passion of music to create a great read from beginning to end. Characters are beautifully developed. You won't be disappointed.
Wow! What a great book! Susanne Dunlap has done a fantastic job at weaving a story of life, loss and triumph over evil. It was very refreshing to read a new kind of historical fiction involving music and the Gypsy people and way of life, which I knew nothing about before. This was an excellent story and I will be reading more books by this author.
