Ten Lessons of Arabic is a beginner-level textbook for learning Arabic. It is based on the primer of Arabic grammar Das Sabaq, which was written in Urdu by Mawlana `Abd al-Salam Kidwai Nadvi and has been a part of the curriculum of Islamic institutes (madaris) in the West for decades.

This is a very, very, good introduction to the Classical Arabic grammatical sciences, sarf and nahw. The information in it does apply to Modern Standard Arabic also, my only complaint was that it was a bit too short. That said these ten lessons are packed with principles and workable information. It gives a better quick overview of Arabic grammar than many works I've seen. I highly encourage you reading this to go ahead and buy it.The methodology this book comes out of is the traditional Nizamiyya curriculum of South Asian Hanafi madrassahs. Though considerably stream-lined and recast for English speakers. The one advantage that approach has is that it heavily emphasizes grammar, which enables a lot of comprehension. A considerable amount of meaning in Classical Arabic lies in the grammatical transformations, the morphology, of a word. This book teaches the bare outlines of some of these rules, but it teaches them VERY well. I initially dinged a star but then added it only because it was a little short for me. But still GET it.
