I could not put the book down and read into the wee hours of the night. The adventures of the so interesting characters, in many different worlds, were totally captivating. The depth of thinking and outstanding gift with words are truly amazing. I know I'm talking in superlatives, but that is exactly my experience of reading this book.
The depth of imagination captured in this epic adventure is phenomenal. Great character development, great battles, and engaging story lines. Dan is a gifted writer and you deserve to let yourself tag along with Zach,Gron, Michael, Rubio, and Topaz to save the galaxy.
Rogue Destiny was fantastic. From the first couple pages, I was hooked by the world and the characters. The book does a great job of reinventing Western tropes and archetypes in a fresh and original sci-fi setting. For anyone who enjoyed Firefly, reading this will be a dream come true. It's full of adventure and heart, and the story makes some really unexpected turns and twists. Highly recommend.
When I finished this book, I couldn't stop thinking about it. That's always a sign that something was done right! The characters were likeable, the dialogue was fresh, and any seasoned sci-fi nerd (or any nerd, really) will appreciate the scattered references to popular fiction of the past. I definitely recommend giving this one a read. It's a fun and entertaining ride through an interesting series of worlds. Glad I gave it a shot!
What a great surprise this book was! This is not the type of books I normally read (space adventure) but this book was extremely well written and flowed. It was fun, funny, and kept you engaged the whole time. Plus for the length of it, it was one of the best book purchases I have made. Characters and story line play connect the dots the whole time but with surprises and humor the whole way. Great book. Take a chance, you will love it!
Loved it. It's a great deal of fun thoughout. I was not expecting to like it this much but much say it was great. Reminiscent of star wars now in the story but in the universe and very like firefly in it's outlook. Not to be missed.
Rogue Destiny kept me entertained from start to finish with action, adventure, humor and a premise that's part space archeology, part interstellar car chase. The protagonist, Zach White, is a rogue in all of the best ways. He's brash, funny, ambitious and more than a little reckless, though these are qualities balanced by how much he cares for the family of misfits aboard his beat-up spaceship. As Zach and his gang brawl their way through rugged frontiers, sleazy spaceports and colorful alien worlds, I really got invested in their search for the mythical planet where all life began, especially as Zach came to realize that it was about a whole lot more than "fortune and glory."
I also enjoyed the way the author piled on many of my favorite things in sci-fi, including shapeshifters, sarcastic robots, supernatural fighting disciplines, ancient weapons, evil AIs and a whole lot more. The twists and turns really kept me guessing down the final stretch, and the author did a nice job of bringing it all together for a showdown that reads like a big-budget action blockbuster movie.
All in all, this is a real page-turner, and the most fun I've had reading sci-fi in a while.
